Welcome to Hawks Retreat, a secluded 3 bedroom 2 bath log cabin with firepit in Riverbend. A spacious log cabin with an inviting front porch greets you as you pull into the drive at Hawks Retreat. Just a few steps to the front door and everything is perfect for single level living. As you walk in you are greeted by a wall of windows and vaulted ceilings giving you the feeling you have stepped back in time.
The modern kitchen is well equipped with stainless appliances, dishwasher, microwave and both a KEURIG and DRIP COFFEE MAKER. Plenty of seating for 6 guests around the dining table, with overflow seating at the kitchen island and bar seating. Solid surface countertops and beautiful wood cabinets through out the kitchen make it the prefect mix of rustic and modern convenience.
The great room with vaulted ceilings enjoys the open concept from the kitchen and dinning area. Featuring a large stone gas fireplace, large flat screen TV, Hughes Net satellite internet, and comfy leather sectional for everyone to kick back and relax. Did I mention the wall of windows? Sit back and just watch your very own wildlife show from the comfort of your sectional as occasional wild turkey wander by and if your lucky you may catch a glimpse of a deer or two.
This cabin has 3 bedrooms in a split bedroom plan. The master bedroom suite with private ensuite bath is to the right of the great room. Featuring a king size bed, flat screen TV and sitting area, the master also has a private master bath. The master bath with dual vanities, soaking tub and separate walk in shower make a perfect escape at the end of the day.
To the left of the great room are the remaining 2 guest bedrooms. Guest bedroom #1 is a queen bed with flat screen TV, separated by a hall guest bathroom with shower and tub combination and guest bedroom #2 is perfect for the kids with a set of twin bunkbeds a twin daybed and flat screen TV.
From the great room the door to the outside leads to the covered back porch and deck area. Home features a GAS BBQ. Plenty of seating to enjoy your evening meal or your morning cup of coffee. Just off the back porch is the firepit with seating for everyone, ready for smores, ghost stories, or just watching the stars. (Firewood is not provided)
This cabin is located in the gated subdivision of Riverbend at Lake Lure, Access to Riverbend must be through gate cards obtained at time of check in. All roads inside the Riverbend subdivision are well maintained gravel roads and only 2 cars are permitted with each reservation, NO OVER SIZED TRUCKS, RVs TRAILERS or ATV's. Riverbend at Lake Lure offers 2 small lakes limited to non motorized watercraft, hiking trails, swimming/beach area (no dogs allowed), picnic pavilion, waterfalls and fishing (NC STATE FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED)
First, be aware the North Carolina Vacation Rental Act provides you with certain rights and protections. Second, we would like to make you aware of a few local regulations designed to promote a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY LIMITS: The maximum overnight occupancy limit for this home is 6 people. You must provide us with the number of people and vehicles in your group. Violation of occupancy rules are grounds for immediate eviction with no refund, and fees will be charged to your credit card to cover any damages.
DESIGNATED PARKING: Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas on the vacation rental property. Parking in the roadway blocking the flow of traffic and parking on neighbor's property without permission are prohibited. There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles at this property, no exceptions. Absolutely NO boats, trailers, campers, RV’s, large passenger vans, ATV or off-road vehicles of ANY kind regardless if they are street legal, or any other oversized vehicles of ANY kind. Overflow parking is available on a first come first serve basis beside main gate.
ACCESS: This home is located inside a gated community with restricted access. If you have any questions, please let us know. Finding this home at night may be difficult and cell phone service is not reliable.
TRASH DISPOSAL: Because of BEARS we ask that all trash be removed at the end of your stay.Riverbend at Lake Lure does not offer daily trash service. Guest is responsible for taking trash to community dumpster. Dumpster is located beside the main gate for Riverbend.
MINIMUM AGE: You must be at least 25 years of age to reserve a rental property. You must sign a rental agreement and be a guest at the property during the entire term of the stay. You must present a valid government ID within 72 hours of reservation.
NO HOUSE PARTIES: We do not accept reservations from sororities, fraternities, spring-break parties, bachelor / bachelorette / wedding parties, or any similar groups unless approved at time of reservation. Mr. Lake Lure Vacation Rentals works closely with local law enforcement to patrol our rental homes. We have a ZERO tolerance policy for noise of any kind.
FIRE PROTECTION FOR YOUR SAFETY: This home is equipped with working fire extinguishers and a posted evacuation plan. Removing any of these from their designated location is prohibited. Avoid storing items not to block hallways, doorways, steps, entrances, and exits. When an area burning ban is in effect, bonfires are prohibited. Contact your rental home's property manager for information on any burning bans. Small outdoor fires are permitted in the fire pit ONLY.
LAKE ACTIVITIES: Do not swim farther than 50 feet from shore unless accompanied by an observer in a boat. A North Carolina fishing license is required, and all state fishing regulations apply.
TRESPASSING: Trespassing or venturing onto a neighboring property without the owner's permission is prohibited.
NO SMOKING: Smoking, Vaping and Electronic cigarettes are prohibited in all our vacation rental homes. You will be assessed an additional cleaning fee if it is discovered you have been smoking and/or vaping in the home of $500. We ask that all smokers stay a minimum of 10 ft from any open window or door, do not stand near open doors or windows allowing smoke to enter the home while smoking on property. Please make sure butts and ashes are not left behind. Discard the butts and ashes in the outside garbage. Do not throw butts on the ground (including the fire pit) or bring them into the home. If there is any tobacco smell in the home after your departure, there will be a minimum $500 charge. Oil lamps and incense are not permitted due to the long-lasting odor. If these policies are violated, there will be a charge for excessive cleaning.
NOISE: Unreasonably loud noise is prohibited throughout the Town of Lake Lure. Please observe quiet hours after 10 p.m. and be aware that sound carries very far in our quiet little community.
UNRULY BEHAVIOR: Behavior deemed disorderly and causing a disturbance to the public is prohibited. These regulations will be strictly enforced.
PETS/ANIMALS: PETS/ANIMALS are NOT ALLOWED in this home. If you are found to be in violation of this rule you will be required to vacate the property and forfeit the remainder of your stay. You will also be assessed a fine of $500 for the violation. No refunds will be given!
Any non-reported dogs will most certainly be discovered on the Homeowners exterior security cameras and the penalties in the Rental Agreement will be strictly enforced. This includes a $500 fine and you will be asked to vacate the home immediately, regardless of the scheduled duration of your stay and forfeit all rents.
INTERNET/ SATELLITE / TV/ CELL SERVICE: Because of our mountainous terrain, heavy foliage, and frequent rain, satellite internet can sometimes be undependable, and certainly not fast. But most people find our internet sufficient for Netflix with a pinch of patience, and email for work. Do not depend on good enough service for video conference meetings for school or work. Most of our homes are not hard wired for internet and depend on satellite service. Homes advertised with internet or satellite TV may experience disruption of service due to foliage or weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Cellular service is also not reliable in our area.
BOOKING WEBSITES: You will be required to sign a vacation rental agreement before your reservation is secured. Your total amount listed on the Mr. Lake Lure® Vacation Rental Agreement may be different than the amount paid to the 3rd party website used for booking. All third-party websites charge service fees to guests for using their services. We have no control over those fees and do not collect them.
RENTAL AGREEMENT AND TOTAL BALANCE: You will be required to sign a vacation rental agreement before your reservation is secured. Failure to sign rental agreement with-in 72 hours of booking, will result in cancellation of reservation and forfeiture of deposit. Any monies received by Mr. Lake Lure Vacation Rentals for occupancy of vacation property indicated the acceptance of the terms of our vacation rental agreement in full. Your total amount listed on the Mr. Lake Lure® Vacation Rental Agreement may be different than the amount paid to the 3rd party site you book through. All third-party sites charge differing amounts as service fees to guests for using their services. We have no control over those fees and do not collect them.
Please read your vacation rental agreement carefully before you begin your vacation. All policies are strictly enforced. It is the responsibility of all guests and members of their party to be familiar with all policies pertaining to rental.
ALL PROPERTIES OFFER AN INITIAL SUPPLY OF THE FOLLOWING AMENITIES:
(including, but not limited to): bed linens and bath towels (2 bath towels and 2 wash cloths per Tenant, 2 hand towels per bathroom sink), dishwasher detergent (2 loads) and dishwashing soap, sponge, laundry detergent (2 loads), hand soap, (1 set per bathroom sink, including hotel size: 1 bar of soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner and 1 lotion), paper towels (1 roll), toilet paper (2 rolls per bathroom), and garbage bags (2 kitchen bags, plus 2 black bags). If you don’t feel this will be adequate for your stay, you will want to stop and pick up more on your way. All properties provide fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, including coffee makers as well as some cooking utensils. Locked pantries and closets are reserved for the use of the Property Owner and are not accessible to Tenant. Rearranging furniture or removing any items from the Property is prohibited. Condiments and cooking essentials are not provided.
ITEMS YOU WILL/MAY WANT TO BRING FOR YOUR STAY:
Extra folding chairs, beach towels, shampoos/ body soaps, hair dryers, basic cooking condiments, tin foil, plastic wrap, food storage containers, coffee, board games, fishing poles & tackle, floats, life preservers for toddlers/infants, golf clubs.
ADDITIONAL FEES: Booking on Airbnb, all additional fees (Processing fee, Damage Waiver, Resort fees, etc.) are combined with the housekeeping fee. This causes the housekeeping fee to appear much higher than it is. Feel free to contact us for a breakdown of those fees.

CHECK OUT: 10:00 a.m. local time (or earlier) NO EXCEPTIONS. Housekeeping will arrive very shortly after 10:00 a.m. to prepare the home for the next Guest. Late check-outs will be charged the applicable daily rate or $50 per hour, whichever is greater to the credit card on file if the home has not been vacated by 1:00 pm.
IMPORTANT RIVERBEND COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Riverbend is a gated residential community. Please be respectful of neighbors.
- No loud music or excessive noise after 10 pm.
- Fireworks are never allowed in Riverbend.
- Do not lift gate. It will break gate and result in a fine. Homeowner is responsible for admitting guests after gate hours. Please contact homeowner for after hour entry at any time.
- Entrance and exit gates admit only one car per entry. No tailgating. It will break gate system.
- Please display visitor pass at all times while in Riverbend. Guest pass will be provided to guests by either the owner or the Gate Staff at the main entrance gate (Rainbow Circle).
- The speed limit in Riverbend is 15 MPH or less AT ALL TIMES. We share our roads with hikers, homeowners walking their dogs and wildlife. The speed limit will be strictly enforced.
- Dogs MUST be leashed at all times. Guests must pick up behind their pets. Dogs are NOT allowed at the Beach at any time. Homeowners will be fined if guests have a dog on the beach. Dogs are welcome at Swimming Hole, river, and Riverwalk. Guests shall not leave their dogs unattended and must curtail excessive barking.
- No vehicles may park on any roads in Riverbend including the road over the dam which is between Mirror Lake and the Riverwalk. Parking is available next to the post office box building near the main gate or at the parking area above Riverwalk or the gravel area next to beach.
- Driving on the beach/ sand is strictly prohibited.
- No kayaks/canoes may be left overnight at the beach. Kayak slots are by assignment only.
- Open fires in Riverbend are prohibited. Use of fire pits with covers is allowed if owner permits.
- Guests shall not litter in Riverbend but shall dispose of trash in receptacles provided by Riverbend or use "pack it in and pack it out" rules.
- Bagged household trash may be disposed of at the compactor at the front gate. (Rainbow Circle).
Town Council has confirmed the drawdown schedule for 2023 and the plan is to begin lowering the lake on 1/1/23. The lake will be lowered about one (1) foot per day until the lake is twelve (12) feet below full pond (990.5 mean sea level). Lake levels will vary during the drawdown between (5) feet below full-pond and (12) feet below full-pond, depending on the work requirements of contractors. The Town will work as strategically and efficiently as possible during the lake drawdown periods. It is anticipated that the lake will begin refilling on 3/31/23.
